DEPLOYTOUR – A new project for the future of European tourism data

An innovative project that enhances data accessibility and sustainability across the tourism sector

DEPLOYTOUR, a strategic initiative under the European Digital Europe Programme, is making significant strides in developing a Common European Tourism Data Space (ETDS). Launched in October 2024, the project aims to address the challenges of fragmented and inaccessible tourism data. By enhancing access to information, DEPLOYTOUR empowers Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) and Destination Management Organisations in their digital and green transition, fostering innovative practices and boosting the competitiveness, sustainability, and resilience of the tourism sector.

The initiative focuses on five key pilot projects to demonstrate the tangible benefits of the ETDS. These include sustainable tourism management in Alpine regions, resilience and competitiveness in mature destinations like the Canary Islands, supporting the MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) industry in Paris, leveraging cultural heritage for tourism diversification in Syros Island, and empowering SMEs in regions like Lapland. Each pilot project utilises advanced technologies such as AI and data analytics to promote eco-friendly practices, optimise business travel, and revitalise cultural heritage sites.

DEPLOYTOUR’s consortium, coordinated by AnySolution, brings together 43 partners from 13 European countries, including SMEs, tourism companies, data companies, national ministries, universities, and research centres. This diverse collaboration ensures interoperability, complementarity, and synergies with other data and tourism initiatives. The project, co-funded by the European Union, aims to create a trusted, secure, and efficient European infrastructure for tourism data over its three-year duration.

As DEPLOYTOUR progresses, it continues to engage stakeholders through forums, workshops, and events, ensuring the initiative’s sustainability and long-term impact. Scan our portal for more updates on the new data space for tourism and more, such as the upcoming data spaces webinar on 14 February.
