Learn about the EU open data policies: Our Academy courses help you become an expert

Understand what open data principles are used by the European Union

Our data.europa Academy courses are designed to provide you with in-depth knowledge and practical skills on open data policies, legal frameworks, business applications, and data governance. Our Academy theme focused on policy provides five unique courses with a total of 11 lessons with different content formats like e-learnings, webinars, and readings.

The introductory course, ‘Introducing Open Data’  offers a foundational understanding of open data concepts and benefits. With the e-learning ‘What is open data’, participants get to know the basics of open data and what it means for digital transformation, which is related to the EU’s Digital Strategy. The second relevant course, ‘Understanding the legal side of open data’ contains learning material on artificial intelligence (AI), open data licensing, and data protection. Watch our February webinar on the regulatory approach of the EU on AI to understand the current AI policy and data ecosystems.

Meanwhile, ‘Creating your business with open data’ focuses on how to use open data for business innovation, like a prototype or application. With the course on ‘Open data licensing’, you will know which data licenses you need. The course ‘Moving towards data spaces’ addresses the emerging concept of data spaces, which are collaborative environments where data can be shared securely and efficiently. Also, part of shaping Europe’s digital future, the Commission is working on Common European Data Spaces continuously. The final policy related course, ‘Understanding data governance with open data’ covers topics such as data quality, metadata management, and the ethical use of data.

The content on data.europa Academy courses is regularly updated according to relevant topics, like our webinar ‘Data spaces: experiences from the European Green Deal’, which is part of the ‘The role of data.europa.eu in EU data spaces’ lesson. By following our lessons, you can improve your skills and become an expert on the EU policies related to open data.
