The goal of DBpedia is to make the information on Wikipedia machine readable. At this moment, a lot of open data, such as on Wikipedia, is not directly useable for computers. DBpedia enables users to query specific questions in the Wikipedia database. For instance, you can search DBpedia for all places with a Wikipedia page that are close to sea with a lot of sun.
