The Interoperable Europe Academy

Equipping public servants with essential interoperability skills

The Interoperable Europe Portal, the European Union’s unified platform for information on cross-border interoperability of trans-European digital public services, officially launched last November. This portal is central to the Interoperable Europe Act, which aims to promote collaboration among public administrations, businesses, and citizens to build a more connected and digitally integrated Europe. One of its core features is the Interoperable Europe Academy, a hub for education and skill development in digital interoperability.

The Interoperable Europe Academy (IOPEU Academy) aspires to strengthen public administrations' digital competencies in the field of interoperability. It offers a range of online, self-paced Massive Open Online Courses, organised into 10 curriculum categories and comprising 30 learning modules. These courses are open to all but are specially tailored for public servants involved in digital transformation. Covering key topics such as semantics and open-source software, the IOPEU Academy equips participants with the knowledge to improve policy implementation, enhance service delivery, and support impact evaluation through interoperability. The courses are also available via the EU Academy

For open data platforms like data.europa.eu, interoperability is a critical component, as it facilitates data exchange, enhances transparency, and supports collaboration across borders and sectors. The principles of interoperability are closely aligned with the mission of data.europa.eu to make high-value datasets accessible and usable for all. By implementing the Data Catalogue Vocabulary (DCAT), data.europa.eu ensures that datasets are described in a standard way, making them easier to find, access, and reuse. The Interoperable Europe Academy serves as a valuable resource for advancing these objectives, providing educational resources on interoperability.

If you’re interested in developing your expertise in interoperability, explore the courses offered by the Interoperable Europe Academy and stay connected with data.europa.eu for updates on interoperability!
