The European Commission's Destination Earth (DestinE) initiative will host an online event, on 8 May 11.30-13.00 (CET), about what Destination Earth is and what it can offer for local digital twins. This session aims to explore how DestinE’s advanced digital twins—currently focusing on climate change adaptation and extreme weather events—can support local governments in enhancing urban resilience and sustainability.
Targeted at city leaders, policymakers, and regional stakeholders, the event will delve into the practical applications of DestinE's digital replicas in urban planning and decision-making. Data will play a central role during the event, as participants will learn how high-resolution climate, weather, and environmental data are used to build digital twins, simulate various scenarios, and guide sustainable urban development decisions. Participants will gain insights into using these data-driven models for flood protection, land use planning, and environmental risk management.
